The examiner asks you about yourself, your home, work or studies and other familiar topics.

  • Do you usually prefer eating at home or dining out at restaurants?
  • How often do you cook meals for yourself or others?
  • What is a popular traditional dish in your home country?
  • Did you have different favorite foods when you were a young child?
  • Is there a particular foreign cuisine that you would love to try?

Part 2: Long Turn

You will have to talk about the topic for one to two minutes.

Part 3: Two-way Discussion

You will be asked further questions connected to the topic in Part 2.

  • How has the popularity of international fast-food chains affected traditional eating habits in your country?
  • Do you think the government has a responsibility to tax unhealthy foods to improve public health?
  • In what ways does a nation's culinary tradition reflect its broader culture and history?
  • Why are dietary trends, such as veganism or gluten-free diets, becoming increasingly common worldwide?
  • How might the way we produce and consume food change in the next fifty years due to environmental concerns?
